Lake Park Advisors

Fee-Only Registered Investment Advisor · Johnson City, TN

Disciplined, tax-aware portfolio management with a fiduciary mindset.

Lake Park Advisors builds custom portfolios for individuals and families in Tennessee and beyond. We are compensated by our clients, not by product commissions, so our recommendations are shaped by your needs.

Core value pillars

Built around how we are paid and how we invest

Three principles guide how Lake Park Advisors works with clients. Each comes with trade-offs, which we explain openly.

Fee-Only Structure

We are an investment adviser, not a broker. Our advisory fee is our only compensation for managing your assets. We do not earn commissions for selling mutual funds, annuities or other products.

Advisory fees reduce account value. Our fees are described in Form ADV Part 2A.

Managed Money

Once an account reaches an appropriate size, we construct a custom portfolio of individual securities for you, instead of a packaged product. Our process emphasizes long holding periods and regular review.

Individual securities can be more concentrated than diversified funds and may lose value.

Mutual Fund Expense Reduction

Many mutual funds carry internal expenses that reduce what you keep. Where appropriate to your situation, we build portfolios from individual holdings so you are not paying for another layer of fund expenses.

Lower costs do not guarantee higher returns. Advisory fees, trading costs and taxes still apply, and portfolios can lose value.

Our fiduciary approach

Recommendations that start with you

As a Registered Investment Advisor, Lake Park Advisors owes its clients a fiduciary duty: to act in their best interest and to disclose conflicts of interest. Because we do not sell products for commission, we can consider the full range of securities available when building your portfolio.

Our principals also come from an accounting background, which informs how we look at taxes alongside investments. Our work is not tax or legal advice, and we encourage clients to consult their own tax and legal professionals.

  • Client-first, fee-only

Clients pay us directly, which aligns our compensation with the advice we give.

  • Financial-statement focus

We read company financial statements closely and favor quality businesses at reasonable prices.

  • Transparent about risk

Every investment strategy has risks. We explain them plainly and revisit them as your circumstances change.

Account types and planning we support

Managed accounts

  • Traditional IRAs
  • Roth IRAs
  • SEP IRAs
  • SIMPLE IRAs
  • Individual brokerage accounts
  • 401(k) and 403(b) rollovers

Planning and education

For clients who are earlier in the journey, we help explain the basics of investing, such as the role of regular IRA or Roth IRA contributions, and can work with you on longer-term retirement savings planning. We do not offer 401(k) plan services for employers.

Account minimums and eligibility for custom portfolio management are described in our Form ADV Part 2A.

How we work

A patient, long-term process

  1. 1

    Listen

We learn about your goals, time horizon, tax picture and comfort with risk before recommending anything.

  2. 2

    Build

We design a portfolio for your situation, generally intended to be held over multi-year periods rather than traded frequently.

  3. 3

    Monitor

Holdings are watched regularly and reviewed formally each quarter. We may sell positions if circumstances change.

Past performance is no guarantee of future results. All investments involve risk, including the loss of principal.
